In the Etruscan civilization, the woman played a role far more outlined than in Greek or Roman society, and enjoyed more freedom and more rights than his contemporaries. The woman Etruscan participated with full right in banquets, lying next to the husband, (as in the tombs of Tarquinia), with great scandal of the Greeks, who did not admit women to banquets, if not them ether, who were essentially prostitutes. The Etruscans had in marriage and the exclusive relationship with the spouse; they did not practice polygamy and the structure of their relationships family was not that distant and dissimilar to that of today. In this room we have reproduced four portraits of Etruscan women, from the famous Velia to others less known but always beautiful e generally depicted alongside their husbands.
